“March For Babies” is held in Manhattan, Staten Island and five (5) locations on Long Island. In Manhattan, the NYPD team participants meet at Lincoln Center (65th St. at Amsterdam & Columbus Avenues) and walk 10K (6.2 miles) with checkpoints along the way supplying refreshments. Last year’s event raised over $2,000,000.00 in the metropolitan area. The Police Department contributed over $18,200.00 to this amount with over 350 walkers. Anyone can volunteer their time. If you are unable to volunteer or participate in the walk you are encouraged to sponsor a walker or give a donation directly to the March of Dimes using the designated CODE (# 427).

Department employees interested in participating in the walk should contact the Training or Personnel Officer in their command. In addition, retired members of the service, as well as family and friends, can sponsor a Department walker or make a contribution directly to the March of Dimes utilizing the following address: March of Dimes WalkAmerica Department, 233 Park Avenue South, 3rd floor, New York, N.Y. 10003 Attention: David Gardner CODE (# 427).

Football SuperBowl MVP quarterback Eli Manning will be celebrating his 1st time as Celebrity Chairman. Come join Eli Manning, Honorary Agency Chairperson, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, First Deputy Commissioner George Grasso and Chief of Department Joseph Esposito among others at this year’s “March For Babies”.

A March of Dimes t-shirt will be provided for those who raise at least $150.00.
