After the terrorist attacks
on September 11th, 2001, many of you responded,
with enthusiasm, to assist the Department
and your fellow citizens at sites throughout
the city. Thousands of retired members responded
to a follow-up survey, indicating a willingness
to help under any circumstances. You showed
that even in retirement your heart remained
with your fellow officers and the City you
served.
We want to offer more information
to our retired members and solicit your
assistance for future events. Your training,
dedication and experience proved invaluable
after 9/11 and can certainly be an asset
in the future.
On this website there will
be answers to your frequently asked questions
(FAQ’s) about the job, volunteering
and retirement support. A secured section
allows you to provide or update contact
information in the event you wish to assist
the Department during an emergency.
I invite you to explore
the links page, which contains resources
that may assist you with post career issues
and to remind you that your connection to
the Department doesn’t end when you
turn in your shield.
